Spotted Coelogyne is a tree-dwelling orchid with clustered, 4-7 cm long,
ovoid-conical, lightly sulcate pseudobulb that carries 2 apical, oblong,
acute, shining, fleshy leaves. It blooms in summer on a terminal, erect 15
cm long inflorescence that carries up to 10 fragrant flowers arising out
of a mature psuedobulb growth. Flowers are white, in erect or drooping
clusters. Sepals are 4 cm long, oblong-lancelike. Petals are blunt. Lip
with rounded side-lobes marked with yellow and brown; mid-lobe white,
unmarked.
Spotted Coelogyne is found in the Himalayas, from Nepal to NE India, China
and Burma, at altitudes of 900-2900 m. Flowering: May-June.
